scheduling classes
The Adult School offers preparation classes in Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, and Social Science. If you have difficulties with writing and reading, there are additional courses to help you improve these skills. Please see the PreGED courses listed on our Semester Course Schedule.
New Students
To sign up for GED preparation classes, new students must first attend an Orientation. During this meeting, students will learn about our GED program, take two practice tests, and review the scores of these tests. The adviser will also help a student set goals and develop a class schedule. Please see our Orientation Information page for more information on this subject.
Currently Enrolled Students
Before signing up for the next semester, currently enrolled students retake the GED Ready™ practice test taken at the beginning of each semester. GED teachers will help students with with this process. The scores from the second set of practice tests will determine:
1. If a student needs additional work in a subject at the same level,
2. If a student has improved and can move from a PreGED to a GED class,
3. If a student is ready to take a GED® subject test.
Academic Counseling
Any GED or PreGED student who is not sure about which classes to take for the new semester can speak with an Academic Adviser or their classroom teacher. Please call 558-2116 for information or to make an appointment with an adviser. Students can set up an appointment with their teacher to discuss questions about current class work or to discuss which classes to take during a new semester.
Adult School Registration Form
Before a counselor can place a student in new classes, you must complete the Adult School Registration Form and pay the semester fee of $30. Completed Registration forms and payment can be processed at the Adult School Main Desk. Please see our Registration.
Scheduling Classes
After completing the Registration form and paying the semester fee, a student must visit a counselor to schedule classes. New students will receive a Registration Form during the first counseling session.
