Requesting a ged transcript from the Adult School
Directions for Requesting a GED Transcript Earned Before July 1990
1. If you are sending the Transcript to YOURSELF and are bringing the transcript to a college counselor or an employer, DO NOT open the envelope you receive from the Adult School. An official transcript MUST be presented inside a sealed envelope.
2. If you want to send your GED Transcript to more than one person or institution, please address, stamp, and fold another envelope and place it in the envelope you are sending to the Adult School. Please make sure you have sufficient postage on the envelope you are sending to the Adult School.
3. The Adult School does not have transcripts of students who took their GED exams while in the military or while incarcerated.

- Download the GED Transcript Request form. The form can be filled outline line. Be advised that failure to give the Adult School accurate information will result in a longer processing time.
- Print and sign the completed request form. (You may want to print a copy for your records.)
- You will need to address and stamp two number 10 size envelopes. See instructions 3 and 4.
- Address the first envelope to: San Mateo Adult School, 789 East Poplar Avenue, San Mateo, California, 94401. Attention: Registrar. Place adequate postage on the envelope.
- Address the second envelope to the person or institution receiving your transcript. Place a postage stamp on this envelope and fold it in thirds.
- Write a check for $10 payable to SMAS. (Please do not send cash through the mail.)
- Place the check, completed Transcript Request Form, and the folded envelope into the envelope addressed to the Adult School.
- Once mailed, it should take between 7 to 10 working days to complete your request.
